How To Motivate Yourself When You Can’t Get Started On Your Flat Stomach Plan

by Greg Hollings

Do you find that when it comes to starting an exercise program the reason why you want to have a great looking set of abs will significantly influence your levels of motivation?

It might not necessarily be a flat stomach on its own that you desire but all the things that come free as part of the package…

It’s those much longed for extras such as pleasant compliments, admiring glances, invitations to go on dates and a chance to wear trendier clothes that will drive you that extra mile on the treadmill, isn’t it?

By the same token, it could be that you’re sick and tired of feeling bloated, experiencing stomach cramps and enduring back pain that you will do anything to stop those symptoms. All these reasons determine your level of emotional investment, and therefore your levels of motivation, in a flat abs program.

Here are some tips to crank up your motivation…

1. Visualise The End Result

It’s important that you can clearly picture in your mind how your body will look once you have have your set of good looking abs. Keep hold of that crystal clear image in your mind as you begin your exercise program.

2. Find A Training Buddy

Some people prefer to train on their own but a training buddy can be there to give you the push when you need it most. Creating a little competition between yourselves is also not a bad way of motivating each other.

3. Create Some External Pressure

This doesn’t necessarily work for everyone but you can create a little pressure for yourself by telling all your friends and colleagues of your plans to achieve a flat stomach. The pressure to achieve what you said you would and committing yourself to this with others, can help motivate you to start exercising when you don’t feel like it.

4. Create A Vision Board Or Scrapbook

Cut out magazine pictures of the body you want, the clothes you’ll wear and the things you’ll do once you’ve achieved your goal. Have a look at the board everyday to remind yourself of what you want to achieve.

5. Lower Your Expectations

Sometimes expectations that are too high can stop you before you’ve even started. A step by step plan with milestones to achieve along the way will help chart your progress and give you a sense of accomplishment.

Sometimes motivation needs to be kick started and not only will these five tips help to kick start your motivation but they can also help you sustain it throughout the duration of your Flat Abs exercise program.
